Microsoft is constantly pushing out new features in Teams, but you may not necessarily be able to view these enhancements if your Teams Client is not using the latest version. The Teams Client is automatically updated, but depending upon your corporate policies, this may not happen as quickly as you’d like. To take advantage of the new Teams features, you need to update your Microsoft Teams Client to the newest release. It’s really simple.

Step-by-step instructions

First, make sure you have opened up the Teams desktop client. Then, click on your profile picture or initials in the top right hand corner.

Select “Check for updates” and that will update your Client to the latest version.

Next, click on your Profile Picture or Initials again and select Settings

The Teams client will open up to the Settings menu.

Activate the new experience by selecting the box on the left.

Once you do this, you must restart Teams. Make sure you sign out from the taskbar at the bottom right of the desktop.

Restart Teams and new features will be available.

You will notice that moving forward, meetings will be started or joined in a separate Window from the main Teams Application.

Also, the Teams task bar now appears at the top of the screen.

All of your new meeting options are available by selecting the three dots.

You can leave the Meeting by selecting leave or if you are the organizer you can end the meeting by selecting the arrow next to leave and select end meeting.
