With more organizations moving their critical resources to the cloud, it’s more important than ever to have near instant access to important issues that could be occurring with any of your Azure instances.
Key features in the new Azure mobile app
Below are a few of the key features in the Azure mobile app that should be of great benefit for cloud-focused organizations of all sizes.
Easier to troubleshoot and resolve issues
There’s no telling when an issue may occur related to your virtual machines. Whether you’re out to dinner with the family, or in a meeting with coworkers, the Azure mobile app allows you to troubleshoot and perform quick actions to your Azure resources such as restarting web apps or virtual machines.
Execute shell commands from your phone
Ever needed to execute shell commands when you’re not near a computer? Now thanks to Cloud Shell integration you’ll be able to execute shell commands and run any of your saved scripts to give you total control over your Azure infrastructure from anywhere. Keep in mind that you’ll be able to choose from either Bash or PowerShell via the Azure mobile app.
Critical alerts right at your fingertips
Thanks to the “Favorites” tab in the iOS or Android Azure mobile app, you’ll be able to keep tabs on your most important cloud-based resources and metrics. Simply add your key virtual resources to your favorites list and receive critical notifications and alerts should any problems arise. Also, all Service Health issues will be delivered to you via the notifications tab. Users can also sign up for push notifications through the Azure portal.
Security paramount with a new Azure mobile app
Having access to all your virtual resources from your mobile device is extremely useful, but if your device ends up in the wrong hands, the consequences could be disastrous. Thankfully, the Azure mobile app includes security features that utilize your devices Fingerprint, Touch ID or Face ID options to ensure you and only you are able to gain access to your Azure infrastructure. Navigate to the settings menu within the mobile app to enable this useful security feature.
Azure mobile app now generally available to all users
While the Azure mobile app has been in beta for quite some time, it’s now officially generally available to all Azure users. While Microsoft is constantly adding new features to this useful app, if you’re an avid Azure user, you should go ahead and install the app as soon as possible!
